JASPER: Robert T. "Bob" Tranchida, 73, of Turner Hill Rd. passed away Saturday (Nov. 26, 2011) at his home surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. Bob was born October 7, 1938 in New York City to Frank and Irene (Cullen) Tranchida. On December 3, 1959 in Ridgefield Park, N.J. he married Susan J. Pavin who survives and lives in Jasper. He was predeceased by a son Robert Tranchida in 2005 and a sister Elizabeth "Cookie" Conley. He was a railroad engineer for 41 years retiring in 1999 from Norfolk and Southern Railroad out of New Jersey. Bob was an avid hunter and was a member of the NRA. He and his wife moved to the Jasper area in1999 where they retired and built a new home and enjoyed the company of family and friends especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Susan, Bob is survived by a son: Frank (Elaine) Tranchida of Jasper and a daughter Jeanette (George) Terjesen also of Jasper. His grandchildren: Christopher Tranchida, Harley Jane Terjesen and Janine Terjesen and one sister Irene (Joseph) DePace of N.J. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Tuesday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 Eats Main St. in Canisteo, where funeral service will take place Wed. at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull, N.Y. Memorial contributions in Robert Tranchida's name may be made to either Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd. Corning, N.Y. 14830 of to the Alzheimers' Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, N.Y. 14620. Service: November 30, 2011 11:00 AM H.P.
