Obituary of Garfield G. Space

Garfield G. Space, 56, of Williams Road, Addison, passed away very suddenly on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at St. James Hospital in Hornell. Born in Wellsboro, Pa. on January 12, 1956, he was the son of Guy E. and Marieda A. Kibbe Space. He graduated from Jasper Central School. Garfield had worked at the R.F. Reynolds Cheese plant in Woodhull and also the Addison Agway for a period. He eventually became associated with the RL Callahan Co. in Beaver Dams where he was employed as a truck driver as well as operating the Callahan farm. He truly loved the farming business and was a talented milker. On May 17, 1980, he and the former Brenda K. Shauf were married in Troupsburg. She survives. Besides his wife Brenda of Addison, Garfield is survived by his son, Adam Space (Tessa Christian) of Cameron, his daughter, Amie Space of Troupsburg, his mother, Marieda Space of Addison, his grandchildren, Courtland Space, William Space and Julia Orr, his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Carl & Wendy Space of Risingville, Dick & Dee Space of Addison, John & Annette Space of Troupsburg, Bill & Ann Space of Campbell, Pat & Garry Calkins of Addison and Ann White of Jasper. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Space on Jan. 16, 2002. Friends may call on Saturday, February 18 from noon to 2 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull. Funeral services will follow there at 2:00 PM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery. Service: Saturday, February 18, 2012 2:00 PM H.P. Smith & Son, Inc.
