Obituary of Joanne V. Snyder

Joanne V. Snyder, 80, of Sebring, Fl, formerly of Bath, Borden and later Lindley NY, passed into the care of her Lord on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring. Joanne was born in the Town of Woodhull on December 18, 1936, the daughter of the late Anton V. and Rosamond Porter Vidigson. A graduate of Addison Central School, Joanne furthered her education at Corning Community College, starting in the nursing program. She changed her studies to music and went on to Mansfield University to earn Bachelors and Masters degrees in music. She taught music at the Horseheads Christian School as well as the Twin Tiers Baptist High School in Breesport, NY. On May 21, 1955 she married Raymond L. Snyder. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2008. Joanne and Raymond were both very active members of the Borden Baptist Church and after moving to Lindley, the East Lindley Baptist Church. Upon moving to Florida, they became associated with the Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring. Joanne served as church pianist and organist and was a member of the choir. She also helped with church sponsored release time programs for children in the area. Surviving are her sons and daughters in law, Craig and Sandra Snyder of Bath and Brian and Bobbi Snyder of Houston, TX., 5 grandchildren, her sister, Eleanor Lou Willis of Addison and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Raymond, Joanne was predeceased by her sister, Rosalee Strauss. A memorial service for Joanne was held on Wednesday, February 15 at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring.. She will be laid to rest next to Raymond in Elk Creek Cemetery, Borden, NY.
