Latrisha Rae McCaig, 30, of East Main St. Hornell, NY, formerly of Woodhull, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Highland Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness. She was with her very loving and proud family when she passed. Trisha was born in Wellsboro, PA on July 13, 1986, the daughter of Glenn and Pamela (McCullum) McCaig. She was a 2005 graduate of Jasper-Troupsburg Central School. Trisha was an associate with the Steuben ARC. She was very proud of her accomplishments within the organization. Even with her lifelong physical handicaps, Trisha was always a positive being and truly loved life and all those around her. She enjoyed camping and leisurely strolls out with family and friends. For 17 years Trisha participated in Valentines for Veterans at the Bath VA Medical Center. She received many awards and recognitions through ARC including being the recipient of a recent Citizenship award. She played the role of Dorothy in an ARC production of the Wizard of Oz. While residing in Hornell, she taught an art class to fellow residents. She is survived by her mother and step father, Pamela and Gerald “Ed” Schoonmaker of Danville, PA, her father, Glenn McCaig (Melody Robinson) of Addison, her brother, Lance McCaig (Brittany Boyles) of Addison, her maternal grandmother, Donna McCullum of Bloomsburg, PA, her paternal grandmother, Eva McCaig of Addison, step siblings, Geril (Meghan) Schoonmaker, April (Ryan) Marino, Tyler Robinson, Lucas Robinson, Logan Robinson and Haley Robinson, aunts and uncles, Susan Drumm, Sharon Smallets, Richard (Betty) McCullum, Carolyn McCaig, Donald (Michaeleen) McCaig, Ronald (Jenny) McCaig and Denny McCaig, 1 niece, 2 nephews, who she adored, and many cousins. Trisha was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Richard McCullum and Ronald McCaig and aunts and uncles, Candy Richardson and Karleen & Bob McCarthy. Friends may call at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home,1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY on Tuesday, March 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted there on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery where Trisha will be laid to rest near her dear friend Samantha Hoad. The family requests that memorial donations be directed to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
