Rebecca M. “Becky” Bassett, 65, of County Route 21, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon (June 25, 2017) at her home surrounded by the comfort, care and love of her family, following an extended illness.

Rebecca, who was affectionately called “Becky,” was born Feb. 2, 1952 in Hornell to the late Earl and Ethel (Hill) Jennings. On Dec. 18, 1988 in Greenwood, she married Carroll L. “Leroy” Bassett, who survives and resides in Andover. In addition to her parents, Becky was predeceased by a granddaughter, Brittany Wentworth; and step-daughter, Tabitha Bryant.

She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, an avid fisherman and one who also enjoyed crafts, particularly crocheting. Becky was also an avid animal “hoarder” who at one time was involved in Husky breeding and raising these dogs.

In addition to her husband of 28 years, Carroll “Leroy” Bassett of Andover, Becky is survived by a son Dallas Bassett at home; five daughters, Heidi (Kevin) Margeson of Canisteo, Melanie (Ken) Ruppert of Ulysses, Pa., Stacey (Todd) Ellis of Mims, Fla., Michelle Sandford of Albuquerque, N.M. and Kathy Brown of Canisteo; one step-daughter, Samantha Bassett of Greenwood.

A celebration of life and memorial service will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m., at the Community of Christ Church, Main Street, in Greenwood.

At Becky’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a special Dallas Bassett Custodial Account. Please make donations to Carroll L. Basset, 3607-4 County Route 21, Andover, NY, 14806.
