JASPER: Rosalyn E. "Rose" Talbot, 86, of Turner Hill Rd. passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 6, 2018 at St. James Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.

 

Rose was born July 11, 1931 in Hornell to the late Olin and Ruth (Howe) LaMonte. On August 5, 1950 she married George W. Talbot who predeceased her in March of 1992. She was also predeceased by a brother Kenneth LaMonte and two sisters, Eleanor Silver and Helen Carlyon.

 

Rose was life-long resident of the Jasper, (Turner Hill Rd.) area where she was a housewife, mother, grandmother and sometime "farm hand". She was a member of the former North Jasper Banner Grange and the United Church of Jasper.

 

Rose was an avid outdoorswoman who liked to hunt when she could, enjoyed snowmobiling and observing nature out her kitchen window. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking and baking. Her apple pies were second to none.

 

Rose's home was always open to family and friends, one and all.

 

Survivors include two sons: Robert (Donna) Talbot of Alfred, Fl. Allen Talbot of Jasper, two daughters, Mary Lou (David) Muir of Olean and Patricia "Patti" Gross of Jasper. 7 grandchildren, William Talbot, Michael Muir, Michelle Kusar, Shawn Talbot, Jason (Laura) Gross, Tanya and Wilson Talbot and 5 great grandchildren. Rose is also survived by a brother, Edward LaMonte of Canaseraga and a sister, Virginia McHugh of Buffalo, nieces and nephews.

 

Per Rose's wishes there will be no calling hours or service. Rose will be buried in North Jasper Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
