Carla J. Butler, 71, of Butler Road, Jasper, NY, passed away at home on Monday, June 20, 2022 following a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Hornell, NY on October 3, 1950, Carla was the daughter of the late Fred L. and Mildred Smith Butler. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper where she was a 1968 graduate of Jasper Central School. Following high school, she continued her education at Mansfield College where she earned a Bachelors’ Degree in Secondary English Education. In the fall of 1972, Carla began a long career at Campbell Central School where she taught high school English for 30 years, retiring from the merged Campbell-Savona Central School District. As a teacher she had been involved with several extracurricular activities as well as being active in the teacher’s union there. She finished her education at Elmira College where she received a Master’s Degree in Education. She loved her family farm in Jasper and found great pleasure in the beauty of her rural setting. She was an animal lover and raised Arabian horses on her farm. She would, without reservation, take in injured or orphaned animals of any kind. Carla was a well educated educator but she so enjoyed a simple life on her land in her beloved Jasper.
