Kevin W. Dennis, 61, of Savona, NY passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath after succumbing to cardiac arrest on his morning walk with his beloved Ruby Jean near his home. Born in North Hornell, NY on July 13, 1961, Kevin was the son of the late Richard L. and Jean A. (Marlatt) Dennis. His family lived originally in Canisteo but moved to Savona where Kevin attended school and was a 1979 graduate of Savona High School. Following high school, he attended Bryant & Stratton Business Institute in Buffalo. Kevin was employed for many years by Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Buffalo where he made his home while working there. While in Buffalo, Kevin gained many dear friends who became his second family away from home. Upon Kevins’ retirement, he returned to Savona where he resided with his mother in the family home until her passing last year. He continued to make his home there until his sudden passing. Kevin adored his two dogs, Ruby Jean and Dominick who he would walk twice daily in the village. They made various scheduled stops on their walks where the dogs would receive treats from neighbors that Kevin had himself handed out to be shared. It was a daily ritual that all involved loved and looked forward to. Kevin was an avid reader, he also loved to be with people to share special occasions as well as everyday encounters with others. He enjoyed brightening the days of everyone around him and even those he met for just a brief moment. His smile and laughter brought comfort to everyone he knew or met, and he could brighten any room he walked into. Kevin is survived by his nieces and nephews, Christie Dennis-Smith, Adam Dennis, Aubrey LeGro and Jacob LeGro, his great nieces and nephews, Cadence Smith, Jenna Smith, Clayton Dennis, Maverick Dennis, Jaydon Hilton-Huffman, Nikko Thomas and Cyrus Thomas. His aunts and uncles, Phyllis (Gerry) Feenaughty of Corning, Brenda Drake of Arkport, Valarie (Robert) Button of Jasper and Carter (Mary) Dennis of Addison, many cousins, and extended “Buffalo” family. A Life Celebration will be observed in the future at a time and place to be determined. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY.
