Obituary of Roxanne Joy Dickerson
Please share a memory of Roxanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roxanne Joy Robertson Dickerson was born to Elden and Dorothy Robertson of Addison, NY on July 27, 1952. On the morning of February 8, 2021 in Palm Bay, Florida, she passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, forever to rest in his enduring glory.
She grew up in Rathbone, NY with her five siblings, Randy, Ron, Rick, Rebecca and Rod. Roxanne attended Addison Central School as well as Corning Community College, where among other things; she completed a self defense class.
She met Bruce Carl Dickerson in 1968 at a teen Sunday School gathering at the Rathbone Methodist Church. They were married and became Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Dickerson on January 27, 1973.
Roxanne raised her two sons, Kyle Dickerson (born Sept. 12, 1981) and Kory Elden Dickerson (born June 10, 1982) in the Town of Addison while working at the local bank and the Addison school. She attended area Nazarene churches and truly enjoyed the summertime at the Nazarene Church Camp in Brooktondale, NY.
Roxanne also loved her and Bruce’s annual trips to Florida. She had said that she enjoyed the drive, taking in the views, as much as the time there. Often when traveling anywhere, she was very passionate about plotting out the road map and no matter how long the trip, she would stay awake to make sure Bruce was doing okay.
In 2017, she and Bruce moved to Florida where she enjoyed the warm sun and continued her favorite pastimes, reading and volunteering in her granddaughter Paige’s school library.
Roxanne is survived by her husband Bruce C. Dickerson, her sons, Kyle (Stephanie) Dickerson and Kory (Lora) Dickerson, her grandchildren, Paige, Emma, Avery and Samantha, her brothers, Rick and Rod Robertson and her sister, Rebecca Dyke.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 1 pm in Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull, NY. Rev. Chuck Hargenrader will officiate. A Celebration of Life will follow the graveside service at the Campbell American Legion.
