Q: How would you describe Kevin to someone who had never met them?
A: KEVIN IS AN ACQUIRED TASTE, MUCH LIKE SUSHI, AVOCADOS, AND POLITICS. BUT ONCE IT HAS BEEN ACQUIRED YOURE APPETITE HAS FOREVER CHANGED. BEING AROUND KEVIN MADE YOU WANT TO BE AROUND HIM MORE. HIS RUSTIC STYLE OF LIVING, WITH HIS UNABASHED TALENTS TO TRANSFORM WOOD INTO FURNITURE, PAINTS BREATHING LIFE INTO THE LIFELESS. THE SATIRE HUMOUR AND THE TWINKLE IN HIS LEFT EYE LET ME KNOW WHY HE PLAYED GUITAR SINGING
" YOUVE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY", " YOU SHOOK ME ALL NIGHT LONG" " THATS WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU" ," GLORIA" AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST " DONT YOU FORGET ABOUT ME". I WAS ASTOUNDED THE AFTERNOON I CAME HOME TO FIND HIM PLAYING HIS ELECTRIC GUITAR AND THE DRUMS WHILE A CIG BOUNCING TO WORDS HE BELTED OUT...GLORIA BY JIM MORRISON ON HIS LIPS. THEN HED PLAY ELDERLY WOMEN BEHIND THE COUNTER...I MISS YOU KEVIN, THIS SUCKS.....HIS UNWAVERING ACCEPTANCE OF THE UNDERDOGS, HOMELESS DOG, HAZEL BASIL, AND MERLIN BLESS HER FERLINE SOUL. KEVINS UP THERE WIT HIS DAD, HAZEL AND MERLIN. ...IF YOU NEVER MET KEVIN, THEY BROKE THE MOLD AND YOU MISSED YOUR CHANCE TO MEET ONE OF THE GOOD OL BOYS....BRILLIANCE DOESNT EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HIS CREATIVE INTELLECT...PEOPLE USED TO COME AND STEAL HIS IDEAS, WE WOULD WATCH AND TALK ABOUT IT HOW HE COUULD NEVER CREATE EVERYTHING SO MIGHT AS WELL LET THEM.....THE BEST IDEA HE HAD I THOUGHT WAS LOVING ME...

Q: What was one of the qualities of Kevin that you loved most?
A: THE QUALITY I LOVED THE MOST ABOUT KEVIN IS HOW HE NEVER TOOK ANY CRAP FROM ME. HE TOLD ME " YOU NEED AN BLANK OLE" AND FROM THEN ON I TOOK NO FOR AN ANSWER, I BROKE THREW MY ANXIETY TO BE SOCIAL AND TAKE RISKS (JUMPED OFF FRYING PAN WITH MIKE CHRISTIANSON YOU GUYS MADE ME DO IT LIKE THREE TIMES!) I WANTED TO BE WITH HIM SO IF I HESITATED ANXIETY WON, AND I WOULD BE LEFT BEHIND. NOW NO ONE JUST YOU KEVIN CAUSE I FELT SAFE WITH YOU ALWAYS.

Q: How did you meet Kevin?
A: I MET KEVIN RIFF (RIFF NESS), IN ELKLAND PENNSYLVANIA. I WAS ALMOST 25 YRS OLD. HE COULD STILL RECALL WHAT OUTFIT I HAD ON. OUR CONVERSATION. HE MENTIONED HIS PARENTS ON VACAY IN CANADA...SAME PLACE MY FAMILY HAD VACATIONED. WHAT A HANDSOME HANDSOME MAN! HIS OCEAN DEEP BLUE EYES AND THAT BLACK CURLY HAIR...SO AWE-INSPIRING NEVER HAD I SEEN A BETTER LOOKING MAN- EVEN STILL. I MISS US...

LIVING/LOVING HEAVY KEVY CAME WITH ITS UNEXPECTED COMIC RELIEF. I WILL FOREVER RECALL WITH LAUGHTER, A TIME KEVIN TESTED MY GUILIBILITY. UPON MOVING IN WITH HIM HE INFORMED ME OF HIS BROTHER JOHN. HE SAID JOHN IS DARKER AND THEY HAVE DIFFERENT DADS. SO WHEN I WAS INTRODUCED TO JOHN (AND I WAS WEARING 20 RINGS BRACELTS AND NECKLACES), I SAID WITH SERIOUSNESS SO I HEAR ERIC ESTRADA IS YOUR DAD THATS PRETTY COOL. THEN HE AND HIS WIFE KATHY BOTH LOOK RIGHT AT KEVIN AND SAY A FEW COLORFUL WORDS. AFTERWARDS JOHN TURNS AND LOOKS AT ME AND SAYS " WHAT IS THAT, YOUR MR. T STARTER KIT?" REFERING TO MY BLING LOL...

Kevin and I have been friends since high school. From the coat of many colors to informer and Gloria. From trips to NYC and Canada. From Merlin to hazel. From just learning the guitar leaving on a jet plane to the musician he was presently. We argued something terribly but yet still remained friends. I m blessed to have spen't some time this past spring/summer arguing the whole time of course. But he still has more to teach me. As one of my oldest friends he will be missed but not forgotten. He helped me through many life lessons and taught me so much more. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

Kevin, you are loved and will be dearly missed by the people who truly loved and cared about you. You were such an easy kid to raise. Never demanding or spoiled. You treated me and your father with respect and love, which is what most parents want and need. I hope you are at peace and sitting there reminiscing with your Dad and Grandmas. It sure helps me knowing you are not alone. I love you, Mom
