Marcella Fairfield. When I was 12, I thought that was the prettiest name I’d ever heard. The name of a princess. It was at that time that I started attending Freeman Baptist Church where the Fairfields were members. Marcella and I became fast friends, and I was occasionally asked to join the family in special events. I remember especially going to the Jr. version of Eastern Star and to classical music concerts at the Corning Glass Works.
Sometimes I was invited to Sunday dinner at the Fairfields where a chicken dinner would always include Wanetta being ribbed by her family for the “dumplings” in the gravy (i.e lumps). We were members of a highly active youth group. We sang our hearts out and had tons of fun.
After college, Marcella and I taught in Greenwood together for almost a year (1973-74). She and I rode to work from Addison with Jean Herrington. The conversation was always lively with Jean regaling us with last night's Top Ten from The Johnny Carson Show.
To Marcella: Marcella, we miss your sparkling blue eyes and engaging smile. You went Home to complete and unending Love. The rest of us will be there in a bit. Keep the light on for us. Love you, Sue

I was so surprised to see that Marcella passed. What a tragic event. We didn't see each other for a long time. But when we saw each, it was like the old days. We had a lot of laughs together. We being teachers made us comrades. Also going to RWC made us college friends. I will so miss your laugh Marcella. I wish I could have seen you before this.

I have so many good memories of her growing up as her neighbor. She and Howie were always great neighbors and friends to my family and myself, my brother and my parents always thought the world of her. She was one of the sweetest woman i have ever met. My brother and i have a lot of fond memories working in there hay barns during haying season. My thoughts and prayers are with Howie and Andrew at this difficult time.

Mrs. Butler and Mr. Butler were my next door Neighbors growing up? She was the most kindest, caring person I’ve ever met. They were a lot like family could count on them for just about anything.
I Remember the days when we used to put hay in the barn and we could always count on Mrs. Butler bringing lemonade for all of us. lemonade has a whole new meaning now. Wherever you are now, Mrs. Butler I hope they have plenty of lemonade. I’ll always remember the long discussions about my mom and dad and a friendly hello here and there, you’re certainly going to be missed.

Chris and I had the pleasure of meeting Marcy on our trip to the US for the wedding of Andrew and our daughter Emily. We were so glad to welcome Marcy and Howard to our home here in rural Australia and to spend Christmas with them in 2023. It has been wonderful to be able to share photos and stories of our precious little granddaughter Margot. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to Howard, Andrew and all the family. We pray that God will strengthen and comfort you at this sad time.

Marcie was a great teacher. She taught my daughter Kathy Harkenrider. Kathy was lucky to have her for her teacher for 2 years. Marcie taught kindergarten and then moved up to first grade the same time my daughter, Kathy did. She helped Kathy though a lot. She was always encouraging Kathy. God has taken home another wonderful lady. You will be missed Marcie. God bless

Mrs. Butler was both my Kindergarten and my 1st grade teacher. I can still remember many things about her, strict but yet kind. She now knows that it was me that colored on the underside of her desk in Kindergarten. Sending thoughts and prayers to her family.
