Raymond E Amidon, age 88 of Hornell NY passed away on February 1, 2025. He was born in Hornell NY on December 9, 1936 to Theodore and Dora (Brown) Amidon. He resided his whole life in the Hornell/Hartsville area. He worked at Corbin Wood Products and Crowley Dairies, retiring around 1999. He married Carolyn (Lewis) in October 1960 and they celebrated 64 years of marriage. They enjoyed many trips together over the years including Tennessee, Las Vegas, several cruises and Hawaii. Ray was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, sons Ray Jr (Jeni) and Jeff (Jody), brother Francis, grandchildren Eric, Sandra, Joseph, Kristen, Katy, Matthew and great grandchildren Kayla and Harper, sister-in-laws Kay Murray, Sally Lewis, and Cheryl Lewis as well as several nieces and nephews. Ray was devoted to his family. He enjoyed dinners out with his wife and friends, spending time with his sons, and was often found at dance recitals and on the sidelines of sporting events for his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed. A public viewing will be held at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc., Funeral Home, 29 E. Mainstreet, Canisteo NY on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 11-1 pm with a funeral to follow at 1pm with Reverend Todd Mitchell officiating. Committal will take place at the Mt Hope cemetery in Troupsburg NY. Arrangements in care of H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
