Ronald S. Tompkins Sr., age 81, of Cty. Rt. 22, Cameron Mills, NY, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Ronnie was born in Corning on May 23, 1943, the son of the late Fred S. and V. Ruth (Kuhn) Tompkins. On November 2, 1968, Ronnie married the former Joyce L. Graden in Dansville, NY.
Ronnie was employed by the Steuben County Department of Public Works as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He retired from the Woodhull shop with 31 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of the Savona Rod & Gun Club and was a former member of the Cameron Fire Department. Ronnie and Joyce enjoyed camping.
Surviving is Ronnie’s wife of 56 years, Joyce Tompkins of Cameron Mills, his sons, Ronald (Kristy) Tompkins Jr. of Addison and Randy Tompkins of Cameron Mills, his daughter, Ronda (Mark) Denson of Erin, NY, his bonus son, Thomas (Lynn) Roeske of Scio, his grandchildren, Justin Tompkins, Elizabeth Carlineo, Anna Carlineo, Jennifer Roeske and Mark Roeske, his great granddaughter, Augusta Tompkins, his sister, Freda DuVall of Cameron Mills and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Tompkins and by his daughter, Rebecca Louise Tompkins on Apr. 22, 2012.
A celebration of life will be observed at a time and place to be determined in the spring.
Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
