Prayers for Dr’s family. I had him for my physician for several years. Such a great physician. He explained everything medical so well. I worked for Dr Alsinjari, for 20 years, so I got to know Dr, if I had to call the office. I always enjoyed it when he was on the 9/10 local on WLEA radio. So much information he talked about. Rest in peace Dr.

Dr. Annabel was ahead of me in school at Canisteo Central School. When he was a senior, he signed my yearbook. I felt so special. My parents bought eggs from his parents. When it became time for me to have a primary care physician I didn't have to think about it. He was my PCP for 35 plus years. He was a kind, caring, interesting and gentle man. I was proud to call him my friend. He loved to teach patients and hospital staff. His hospital and office rooms were full of Gettysburg, railroad, auto memorabilia. I will.always be thankful for him.

I am Heartbroken at the passing of my true and dear friend Spence. He gave me hope and he was a bright light for good in this world. His courage and peace as he transitioned from his earthly life to his spiritual life was inspirational. He so well understood that love was the ultimate goal of us all, unconditional and freely given. You have run the good race it is time to rest. I am so sorry I will not be present at your celebration of life, I will always remember and cherish our friendship.

My deepest condolences to the Annabel family. I worked with Spencer in the St. James Ultrasound department and he was always a kind and helpful colleague. I appreciated that he came to Bijon's memorial in 2014 and my family loved especially that he came wearing his historical uniform. We are attaching a photo of that memory.

As a caregiver, Spence was a stellar model for us of active humanity to the stricken and the suffering. He cared for our parents as they made their way out.
As an enthusiast for history, and particularly Civil War history, he greatly influenced the storytelling of a project we created about caregivers in that time. The creative team went with Spence to Gettysburg and several local reenactments. His actual words became part of the text for a Dance/Theater performance called “Healing Wars”. It premiered at the Arena Stage in Washington DC and then toured around America.
His engine for living a full life was a mighty one.
We love ya Spence.

Spence’s story “Never Waivering”
Now, what would happen in many battles – there was a phenomenon, 'Never Wavering.' Before battle, each company would form a line, and you would be standing next to your uncle, and three men down the line is your neighbor, and your father was just past him. When a charge was commanded, the line would move forward - made up of companies of men who knew each other intimately.
You all faced this withering fire, and yet you knew you couldn't fall and burrow in, you couldn't retreat. You were surrounded by men who assumed you wouldn't, and if you did, you couldn't go home again. So that line would move forward, and that line never waivered. The line kept moving forward no matter what devastation they were facing.
The army doesn't form regiments like that anymore. And I'll tell you why. The men of the first Minnesota on the 2nd of July in 1862 – in fifteen minutes of that battle most of the men of every generation from that part of Minnesota got wiped out. They lost all their men on that afternoon in July. And that's why they don't form regiments that way anymore.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Spencer?
A: He was s caring, special man, with a wicked sense of humor. He always had time to share s story or teach. He was awesome as a Civil war surgeon in enactor. He was told me he could relieve my hip pain with his old time bone saw.
I dearly adored Doc as did anyone who knew him as their PCP or acquaintance. He was truly priceless gem of humanity!
