Obituary of Eileen B. Herrington

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the extraordinary life of Eileen Herrington, who passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on October 9, 1938, Eileen was a woman of remarkable strength, deep faith, and boundless love. Her life was a testament to perseverance, grace, and unwavering devotion to God and family. Eileen was first married to Judson VanCor, with whom she shared six beloved children. Following Judson’s passing in 1983, Eileen married Arnold Herrington in 1985. Arnold lovingly helped raise her two youngest sons, Judson and John, until his passing in 2016. Her youngest son, John David, preceded her in death in 2021. Above all, Eileen was a devoted and loving mother. Her greatest joy came from her family, and her legacy lives on through her children: Sandra Eaton, Sharon Seiber, Shelia Olbrei, Brenda Young, and Judson VanCor. She was a proud grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 20, each of whom carries forward her enduring spirit of love, faith, and resilience She was an avid quilter and spent many years with her quilting group turning out cherished creations for many friends and family. In 2023, Eileen moved to Texas to be closer to three of her daughters, where she spent her final years surrounded by the warmth and care of family. Eileen’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her spiritual strength illuminated every path she walked, offering comfort, wisdom, and inspiration to all who knew her. She met life’s challenges with dignity and determination, embracing each moment with grace and gratitude. Eileen’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, family, and fortitude. Her memory will forever remain a blessing in the hearts of those she touched. There will be a mass and graveside ceremony at the Woodhull Cemetery Chapel, Woodhull, New York on September 25th at 10 am to celebrate her life and interment alongside her husbands, Judson and Arnold and son John. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to Wreaths Across America is preferred. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
