Herbert L. Raub Jr., 81, of St. Rte. 417, Addison, NY, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Born in Wellsville, NY on November 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Herbert and Hazel Dennis Raub.
In June 1962, Herbert married the former Anna L. Burgess in Wellsville. He soon after entered the US Army, serving until February 1964.
Herbert was a longtime meat cutter, working for many years for Loblaw’s Grocery in Painted Post. In retirement, Herbert and Anna were snowbirds, spending summers at Allegany Mountain Resort in Ellicottville, NY and winters in Homosassa, Florida. Herbert was an avid fisherman and considered Rainbow Lake at Allegany Mountain Resort his favorite fishing spot.
Surviving are his two daughters, Lisa (Mike) Gruetter of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Deborah Henry of Addison, his grandchildren, Jared Gruetter, Ryan Gruetter and Krysti (Justin) Wilson and great grandchildren, Taylor Henry-Predmore and Alexander Jameson Gruetter. He was also looking forward to the upcoming birth of another great grandson, Justin Wilson Jr. in November.
Herbert was preceded in death by his wife Anna Raub on April 20, 2021 and his son-in-law, Stanley Henry on January 7, 2017.
Private burial services will be held in Woodhull Cemetery where Herbert will be laid to rest next to his wife Anna.
Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
