ALMOND: Penny Ann Houghtaling, 61, passed away unexpectedly June 28, 2025 at her home.
Penny was born March 6, 1964 in Hornell at the former St. James Mercy Hospital to Paul and Diane (Farrand) Sherman of Greenwood who survive. On November 6, 1993 in Hornell, she married Michael A. Houghtaling who also passed away unexpectedly June 28, 2025.
Penny was a lifelong resident of the Canisteo Valley growing up in Greenwood and graduating from Greenwood Central school.
In addition to her parents, Penny is survived by a sister Amanda Sherman of Canisteo, step-sister Debbie Farrand also of Canisteo and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours, family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Greenwood Cemetery, Ste Rte. 248 Greenwood. There will be a luncheon to follow at the Greenwood United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
