Obituary of Robert J. Hume

Robert (Bob) Hume, 79, passed away peacefully at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville on Sept. 11, 2025, after a brief illness. Bob was born in Batavia, NY on May 4, 1946. He was in the Pavilion graduating class of 1963. During his time on Earth he had many, many jobs. What he enjoyed most was being a Mercy Flight pilot, a supervisor at Leroy Machine Shop and he was a soldier that did three tours of duty in Vietnam. Bob enjoyed playing his guitars with his cousins and friends, riding his Harleys and fishing. He was predeceased by his parents Hazel Hargrave Hume and Leon Robert Hume; three wives, Willadeane (Bunnie) Alderton Hume McNish, Darlene Kaczmark Hume and Cora Chandler Schwartz Hume, Chester (Butch) Kaczmark – brother-in-law, Christopher Van Buskirk – son, Albert Szhwartz – step son, Robert Ridley – son-in-law and Christopher Robert Ridley – grandson. Bob is survived by his brother, David (Jane) Hume of Pavilion, his siter, Shirley Joan Kaczmark of Tucson, Ariz., his children, Susan Hume of LeRoy, Karen (Douglas) Vagg of Pavilion, Mary Ridley of Geneseo, John (Judy) Hume of Mechanicville. MD, Sharyll Hume of LeRoy, Robert (Lisa) Hume Jr. of Manassas, VA, Silivia (jerry) Giroux, Andre Schwartz, Michelle (Brad) Bentley and Bob’s special friends, Erin Schwartz and Marilyn Abdelle. Bob has over 20 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren. There will be a Military Graveside Memorial Service on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at 1 pm at Hedgesville Cemetery, Cty. Rte 102 in the Town of Woodhull. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
