LAKELAND, FL/CANISTEO: Edith M. “Edie” Maynard, 72, of Lakeland Fl formerly of Canisteo passed away Friday evening, September 19, 2025 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville following a brief illness.
Edie was born August 19, 1953 in Troy, Pa. to the late John and Helen (Heysham) VanDelinder. Growing up in the Troy and Millerton, Pa. area, she was crowned the Millerton, Pa. Fire Queen in the late 1960’s.
On July 3, 1971 in Daggett, Pa. she married Donald Maynard who survives and resides in Lakeland, Fl.
Edie was an office manager for Guthrie Medical in Bath, NY. She and her husband Rev. Donald Maynard served the Canisteo Wesleyan church for over thirty years before retiring and moving to Lakeland, FL.
She led the worship team for several years at church as well as play the piano. Edie loved to cook, play board games, sew and quilt and watch her share of the cooking network on television. She also enjoyed traveling taking cruises and visiting the Amish Country in Lancaster, Pa.
She is survived by her husband Rev. Donald Maynard of Lakeland, FL. daughters, Rebecca Maynard of Prattville, AL, Michelle White of Hornell and Jennifer (William) Updyke of Canisteo. 6 wonderful grandchildren, Bryce, Nicholas, Olivia and Abigail Updyke, Mariah White-Jones and Ethan White, and one great granddaughter Raelynn Jones.
Edie was predeceased by a brother Frank VanDelinder.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Canisteo Wesleyan Church, Greenwood St. Canisteo. The celebration of life will also be live streamed on the Canisteo Wesleyan Church Facebook page.
Memorial contribution in Edie’s name may be made to Chambers Wesleyan Camp, 114 Camp Ground Rd. Beaver Dams, NY 14812.
