Obituary of Robert K. Sullivan

Robert K. Sullivan, 83, of Holden Road in Addison, NY, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, October 30, 2025. Born on October 22, 1942, in Bath, NY, Bob was raised there and graduated from Haverling High School. In October 1962, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a member of the Military Police until October 1965. His service to his country was a great source of pride throughout his life. Following his military service, Bob settled in Bloomington, Illinois, where he worked as a freight dockman and proud Teamster for Nussbaum Trucking in Normal, IL. After 25 years of dedicated service, he retired and returned home to Steuben County in 1994. Never one to sit still, he began a second career as a driver for Loohn’s Cleaners and later Crystal Cleaners in Corning, NY. It was during his time at Loohn’s that he met Darlene Draper. Their friendship blossomed into love, and the two were married on May 15, 1999, in Kanona, NY. Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Known for his sharp wit and good humor, he could always be counted on for a joke or a bit of playful teasing. He loved spending time outdoors and especially enjoyed deer hunting with his family—often referring to himself proudly as “Bobby One Shot.” He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Sullivan, at home; his children, Chris Sullivan of Argyle, TX, Kim Sullivan of Bloomington, IL, and Brandon (Megan) Sullivan of Bloomington, IL; his grandchildren, Ellie Sullivan, Joshua Anthony, Sara Anthony, Christopher Anthony, Madison Sullivan, Keegan Sullivan, Kyleigh Sullivan, Cole Sullivan, Chloe Sullivan, Daxton Sullivan, Ian Sullivan, Ava Sullivan, and Rylan Sullivan; and great-grandchildren Leighton Auth and Izabella Auth. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Arda Draper of Addison; sisters-in-law Yvonne (Kevin) Romance of Beaver Dams and Anita (Roger) Horton of Addison; his beloved cat Crystal; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Bruce and Ruth Sullivan; his bonus son Brandon Draper; siblings Warren Sullivan, Bernard Sullivan, Shirley Remchuk, June Sullivan, Howard Sullivan, Clyde Sullivan, and Bruce Sullivan Jr.; and brother-in-law Daniel Draper. Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, November 5, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main Street, Woodhull, NY. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at Northrup Hill Cemetery in Rathbone, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Bob’s memory.
