Obituary of Lucille H. Lockwood

CANISTEO: Lucille H. “Lucy” Lockwood, 92 of Canisteo passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, November 11, 2025 at St. James Hospital following a brief illness. Lucy was a life-long resident of the Canisteo Valley where she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born February 4, 1933 in Beechville, NY to the late Fay and Hazel (Davis) Sutfin. On September 5, 1953, in Hornell, she married Raymond R. Lockwood who predeceased her on November 2, 2021. Lucy was a graduate of Arkport Central School, was a member of the Canisteo First Baptist Church and a member of the former Canisteo Order of Eastern Star #210. She is survived by two sons, Larry (Judy) Lockwood of Arkport, John (Kellie) Lockwood of Bradford, two daughters Diane McCaig (Reg Fuller) of Jasper and Terri York of Canisteo, 10 grandchildren, Scott (Staci) Lockwood, Michael (Amanda) Lockwood, Sara (Rich) Cole, Jennifer Bower, Nathan Calhoun, Hilary (Dan) Carhart, Morgan York, Amber (Landon) Gilbert, Barbie Stewart and Johnny (Regan) Lockwood, 16 great grandchildren, one sister Helen Fisk of Palmyra and sister-in-law Onnollee Sutfin of South Dansville. In addition to her husband, Lucy was predeceased by son-in-law Steven York, brothers, Floyd, Gerald, Earl and Robert Sutfin, sisters; Evelyn McClary, Katherine Houghtaling, Doris Bennett, Ada Cary and Marian Monaghan. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 16th from 1-3 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo where a memorial service will take place at 3:00 pm.
