Obituary of Bill Dennison

William A. Dennison, 70, of Watson Creek Road, Lindley, NY, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Corning Hospital. Bill was born in Chatham, Massachusetts on April 6, 1955, the son of the late Emery B. and Mabel B. (Knapton) Dennison. He attended Addison Central School. On September 8, 1973, Bill and the former Sandra K. Jackson were married at the Tuscarora Baptist Church. Sandy survives. Bill was employed by Cameron Manufacturing in Horseheads as a welder with over 30 years of active employment at the time of his retirement. He was a classic car lover and was usually found in his garage working on restoring his latest acquisitions. His garage space was referred to as “his house” as so much of his free time was spent there. He was a very talented mechanic and auto body man. He was the most selfless, hardworking man and did whatever he could for those he loved. Sandy and Bill shared a long, loving marriage through every season of life. He was beyond proud of all of his great grandkids and did whatever he could to be able to be a part of their lives. He lit up anytime they were around. Everyone is going to miss his stubborn ways and being able to go to him for a good chat and laugh. Bill was still a kid at heart and never missed an opportunity to rev up his latest project and spin the tires coming out of the garage. Bill is survived by his wife Sandy at home as well as his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sara Dennison of York, PA, his grandchildren, Marissa Dennison (Dylan Benjamin), Sydney Rose (Blake) Updyke, Koby (Kayla) Dennison, Kennidy Dennison (Jason Bourlew), Lydia Dennison, Natalee Dennison, Julianna Dennison and Brynlee Dennison, great grandchildren, Lane Benjamin, Everliegh Dennison, Cole Dennison and Rori Scott Updyke, several nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Mable Dennison, his son, Scott Dennison who died June 19, 2004 and his siblings, Janet Stiles, Pearl Pettit, Edward Dennison, Margaret Robbins, Bonnie Harrington and Linda Bogart. The family will hold a memorial gathering at a later time. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
