CANISTEO: Peter “Pete” Kendall, 77, of Red Spring Run passed away January 19, 2026 at the home of his niece Dory Spease in Shermansdale, Pa. following an extended illness. Pete was a life-long resident of the Canisteo Valley where he was a dairy farmer on the Kendall farm in South Canisteo. He also worked at the Woodhull Cheese Factory for a few years and Air Flow Manufacturing in Prattsburgh, NY. He was born August 15, 1948 in the town of Canisteo, to the late Howard P. and Eudora M. (Campbell) Kendall. Pete was a private man, but enjoyed the company of his family. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. Pete is survived by a brother Floyd (Karen) Kendall of Canisteo, his special caregiver and niece Eudora "Dory" Spease of Shermansdale, Pa., along with several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers, Elmer, Robert, Frank, Donald, LD and Martin Kendall and five sisters, Grace Pettys, Laura “Flossie” Kendall, Harriett Vanderhoef, Ruth Fox and Margaret Kendall. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, January 22nd at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo, where a funeral will take place Friday, January 23rd at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo. Arrangements are in care of H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
