Obituary of Julia M. Coleman

CALEDONIA: Julia M. “Julie” Coleman, 84, of Main St. passed away Monday, January 19, 2026 at her home surrounded by the love and care of her family. Julie was born March 24, 1941 in the town of Troupsburg to the late C. Sherman and E. Eileen (Grist) Schoonover. On December 31, 1963 in Canisteo, she married James J. Coleman who predeceased her in 2017. Julie was an Area Manager for Tupperware for many years. After raising her children, Julie completed her nursing degree. She then worked at area nursing homes until she was 70 years old. She is survived by two daughters: Melody (Gary) Harwood of Bonita Springs, FL and Melony Kelly of Satellite Beach, FL; three sons: Michael Coleman of Caledonia, Mark (Cyndi) Coleman of Elizabethtown, KY and Matt (Andrea) Coleman of Cary, NC. Julie is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, six sisters, Joyce (Beverly) Johnston, Leah Schoonover, Ruth (David) Abbey, Elva Whitehead, Sarah Schoonover, Ola (John) McShea, three brothers, Fred (Cynthia) Schoonover, Richard (Mary) Schoonover and James (Nancy) Schoonover, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband Jim, Julie was predeceased by two daughters; Marian Marie and Michelle Joan Coleman, a brother, Charles Schoonover and a sister Cora Schoonover. The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm Friday, January 23rd at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo, where a funeral service will take place Saturday, January 24th at 11:00 am Burial will be at Heritage Hill Cemetery, Arkport, NY. Memorial contributions in Julie’s name may be made to either the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4232 Reservoir Road, Geneseo, NY 14454 or to the Livingston Hospice Program, 2 Murray Hill Drive, Mt.
