Larry J. Mundy, 80, of Cty. Rte. 86, Tuscarora, passed away at his home on Friday, February 27, 2026. Larry was born in Wolcott, NY on April 7, 1945 to the late Allen Lee James Mundy and Mary Jane Plummer Mundy. He was raised in Wolcott and was a graduate of Wolcott High School. In his youth, Larry assisted on his family’s farm producing apples and various other crops. Following high school, Larry attended Plattsburgh State University where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education. Larry met the former Judy Hamblin in Tuscarora, they dated and they eventually married in Tuscarora on July 29, 1977. Judy preceded Larry in death on August 6, 2016. Larry taught at Lyons Central School for three years before being hired to teach at Addison Central School. He taught all levels of history there and retired with over 30 years of active teaching. Larry was an avid historian, particularly interested in local history. He had served as Historian for the Town of Addison and chronicled local history with the eventual publication of a book of history of the Addison area. Larry was a former councilman for the Town of Tuscarora. Larry loved the outdoors, especially spending time operating his farm with his family as well as fishing. Surviving Larry are his children, Stephen Mundy of Leroy, NY and Marijane (Scott) Kirk of Hornby, his grandchildren, Heather Mundy, Cory Lockwood, Cailey Kirk, Cameron Kirk and Connor Kirk, his great grandchildren, Brennalyn Brazie, Eli Cunningham and Vaida Woodcock, his sister, Becky (Robert) Clark of Lithia, FL, his brother, Dale (Janet) Mundy of Webster, NY, his sisters-in-law, Janet Burgess of Addison, Wilma Jones of Omaha, Arkansas, Evelyn Brown of Columbus, GA, Virginia (Wyatt) Wolf of North Port, FL, Patti (Wesley) Baker of Addison and Dottie Stapleton of Corning, his brothers-in-law, James (Kathie) Hamblin of Addison, Jerry (Joy) Hamblin of Troy, PA, Roger (Deb) Hamblin of Caledonia, NY and Robert Towsley of Addison along with many nieces and nephews. Besides Larry’s wife Judy, he was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Cynthia Clark, his sister-in-law, Phyllis Towsley and brothers-in-law, Donald Rose, Tim Hamblin, Kenneth Stapleton and Leonard Hamblin. Friends may call on Saturday, March 7 from 10 am to 12 noon at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow visitation there with Rev. Troy Preston officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
