William "Bill" G. Tompkins, 87, of Medina passed away on March 23, 2026, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Born December 24, 1938, in Corning, he was the son of the late Ivan and Marian (Dense) Tompkins. Bill worked for upwards of 30 years as a Soil Conservationist for USDA lastly in Albion, where he retired in 1987. He was passionate about cars and was particularly fond of the classics. His family lovingly remembers his ability to name the make and model of any car he saw. Bill also had a passion for vegetable gardening and spending time with his beloved dachshund, Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John Tompkins. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sandra; children, Teresa Fox, Timothy Tompkins, Tina (Douglas) Ames, Eric (Michelle) Tompkins and Christopher (Debra) Tompkins; brother, Edwin Tompkins; grandchildren, Corinne (Brian) Kaplan, Nathan (Ashley) Fox, Ryan Ames, Devan (Amelia) Ames, Alyssa (James) Jenks, Kaitlin Tompkins (Jeremy Ribbeck), Austin Tompkins and Riley Tompkins; and 4 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Woodhull Cemetery Chapel, 5330 Sherwood St, Woodhull, NY 14898.
