BATH/CANISTEO: Virginia M. “Ginny” Young, 86, formerly of Canisteo passed away Monday afternoon, April 27, 2026 at the Corning Center Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility following a short illness.
Ginny was born September 22, 1939 in Hornell to the late Robert and Marguerite (Olds) Osborne. On February 2, 1957 at the Park Methodist Church in Hornell, she married Lloyd D. Young, Sr. who predeceased her in January 13, 2025.
Ginny was a life-long resident of the Canisteo Valley where she and Lloyd raised their three boys and was employed at the former Loohns Cleaners in Hornell for several years.
She is survived by her sons David (Sally) Young of NC, Mark Young of NC and Lloyd D. (Diane) Young, Jr. of Bath. Also surviving is a sister Thara (Don) Fisher of Dalton, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister Susan Kull, brothers, Michael and James Osborne, Richard, Robert and Jack Baker.
At Ginny’s request there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Ginny’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
