Obituary of Caroline A. Kent

Caroline A. Kent, 75, of 2971 St. Rte. 36, Jasper, NY, entered into rest on Friday, January 27, 2012 at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, NY after a long illness. Born in Woodhull, NY on April 10, 1936, she was the daughter of Rueben and Fannie Lane Allegar. A 1954 graduate of Jasper Central School and of the Hornell Business Institute, she was a former employee of Corning Glass Works and since her marriage, assisted her husband in operating the dairy farm on which they resided. For over 20 years she was the tax collector for the Jasper Central School District, was a member of the former Jasper Grange and for several years was the organist at the Canisteo United Methodist Church. She married Laurence E. Kent on July 18th 1959. He survives. Also surviving are her son and daughter in law, Alton H. & Juanita Kent of Jasper, NY, her daughter and son in law, Lanita & Tim Pajda of Mechanicsburg, Pa, her grandchildren, Katherine Kent, Dylan Kent, John Michael Kent and Allison and Cassidy Pajda. There will be no visitation. A private memorial service was held on Sunday, January 29th at 6 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. with Mr. Trevor Price officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery, Jasper, NY.
