Norine D. Symonds, 95, of Addison, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. She was born December 6, 1927 in Woodhull, NY to Charles and Lula Kilmer. She graduated from Woodhull High School in 1946. On July 10, 1971, Norine married Edwin Symonds and they were married for 43 years until his death on January 5, 2015. She was the town clerk for the Town of Tuscarora for 7 years and held several waitressing jobs in her early years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Addison, held many official positions in the church and sang in the choir. She was a member and Past Matron of the Woodhull Chapter of the Eastern Star and Past Matron and Chaplain of the Woodhull-Addison Eastern Star Chapter 273. Norine enjoyed coloring, reading, crocheting and watching the wild birds in her bird feeder. Norine is predeceased by her parents Charles and Lila Kilmer, daughter, Gail Ann Wheatcraft, spouse, Edwin Symonds, brothers, Percy, Leland, Everett, Neil, Dorr and Elton Kilmer, sister, Eulalie Morton, step daughter-in-law, Deborah Symonds and granddaughter, Jennifer Symonds. Norine is survived by her children, Terry (Flo) Wheatcraft of Addison, Bruce (Judy) Wheatcraft of Addison, GeraldWheatcraft of Painted Post, Brian (Lisa) Wheatcraft of Greeley, CO and Gina (Adam) Trujillo of Greeley, CO, her step children, James (Kathleen) Symonds of Addison, Joseph (Mary) Symonds of Woodhull, Edwin T. Symonds of Woodhull and Marjorie (Thomas) Whispell of Horseheads, 19 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Fingerlakes SPCA. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY.
