Obituary of Levonne F. Crosby

ADRIAN: Levonne F. Crosby, 84, formerly of Cty. Rte. 119 in Adrian, passed away peacefully Monday evening August 28, 2023 at Maple City Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Hornell (formerly Hornell Gardens) where she had resided since 2022. Levonne was born July 17, 1939 in Canisteo to the late Victor and Marie (Cole) Howland. On November 28, 1975 she married Lewis L. Crosby who predeceased her January 21, 2011. She was a lifelong resident of the Canisteo Valley and was a book keeper for the former Lamac’s Auto Sales on Seneca Rd. in Hornell. She was a member of the Kanestio Historical Society, the Lady’s Red Hat Society and the Adrian Baptist Church Woman’s Group. Levonne very seldom watched television and instead was an avid reader of many novels, especially western novels. Her greatest devotion was her faith. She was a very dedicated Christian woman whose faith was every bit of who she was. Levonne is survived by two sons: Rickie (Anita) Howland of Fredericksburg, Va. Carlton (Peggy) Howland of Adrian, a daughter Renee (Martin) Bruce of Canisteo, Step-sons David Crosby of Canisteo and Michael Crosby of Cameron, two sisters Vickie Williams of Kent, NY and Rose Austin of Hornell, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo where a funeral service will take place immediately following calling hours at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Kanestio Historical Society, Main St. Canisteo, NY 14823. Arrangements are with the H.P.
