Obituary of Clayton J. Stock

HARTSVILLE: Clayton J. Stock, 80, of Purdy Creek Rd. passed away Monday afternoon, October 2, 2023 at Elderwood at Hornell. Clayton was born May 22, 1943 in the town of Woodhull to the late Perry and Golda (Travis) Stock. On May 3, 1969 in Wayland, he married the former Jeanette R. Allen who survives and resides in Hartsville. Clayton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving our country proudly from 1962-1966. He was a retired electrician for Alstom working out of the Hornell motor shop. He was an accomplished guitarist performing for family and friends and was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the local high school events, New York Yankees and Syracuse basketball. In addition to his wife Jeanette of Hartsville, Clayton is survived by two sons, Jon “CJ” Stock of Hartsville, Richard (Alice) Friends II of West Virginia, grandchildren, Clayton Jon Stock-Friends, Richard Lee Friends III, Eamon A McNaulty-Friends and Catriona AK Friends. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Mildred Stock of Campbell, his brothers-in -law, Erwin & Elaine Allen, David & Sharon Allen, Stewart “Butch” Allen, Ethan & Patricia Allen, Michael & Juanita Allen, Alan (Joanne Ordiway) Allen and David Tracy, sisters-in-law Paula & Larry Keaney, Suzanne & Steve Turner and Waneta Crosby, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-father Wendell Ostrander, five brothers, Lester, Earl, Fred, Harry and Perry Stock, sister-in-law Elaine Tracy. At Clayton’s request there will be no calling hours or service. Final interment will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Clayton’s name may be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd. Hornell, NY 14843. Arrangements are with H.P. Smith & Son, Inc.
