Ronald L. Jumper, 72, of Woodhull, NY, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 surrounded by loving family. Ron was born in East Stroudsburg, PA on June 23, 1951. He was the son of the late Edward A. and Ethel H. (Freeman) Jumper. He was raised in the New Milford, PA area where he was a 1970 graduate of Blue Ridge High School. Ron came to know the Lord as a young man and lived his life by the values taught by his Savior. Ron met a young lady by the name of Nedra Jones at a church function which led to their marriage on December 25, 1970 at the South New Milford Baptist Church. Early in 1971, Ron was drafted into the military and enlisted in the US Army. Soon after, he and Nedra learned that they were going to be parents. He was stationed in Germany for nearly two years. His sons Ronald II and Robert were born while Ron was serving in the Army. Their daughter Tonja was later born following his military service. Ron was a skilled woodworker, a job which he loved. He had worked for Butz Woodcrafters in Elmira until such time as he sustained a serious back injury. Ron than attended Corning Community College, studying computer science. He was employed in information technology at World Kitchen in Corning for 11 years. He retired in 2019. In 2014, Ron and Nedra purchased an old farmhouse in Woodhull and with the help of family and friends; they completely gutted and renovated the house into a beautiful home. His love for woodworking led to building a woodworking shop in an outbuilding on the property. Surviving Ron is his wife, Nedra Jones Jumper at home, his sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald II and Doreen Jumper of Addison, Robert and Karrie Jumper of Campbell and Mike and Sherri McFall of Lindley; his grandchildren, Aaron (Katelyn) Jumper, Adam (Sarah) Jumper, Alex Jumper, Allison Jumper, Kaylin (Ian) Kull, Mikey McFall Jr., Kurstin (Michael) Swan and Zachery Storm; his great grandchildren, Sadie, Ellie, Polly, Aldon, Paisley, Piper; his brothers, Edward (Louise) Jumper, Warren Jumper, Judy (Terry) James, Colin (Deborah) Jumper and Dana (Julissa) Jumper and Sister in Law Bernadette Jumper; many nieces and nephews and dear family friends, Brian and Chris Hoyler, John and Malinda Hostetler, Marvin and Lizzie Miller and Ben and Mary Farmwald. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ethel Jumper, his daughter, Tonja M. Jumper on Apr 22, 2014 and his brother, Gary Jumper on Oct. 10, 2022. Friends may call on Sunday, March 17 from 2 to 4 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the Tuscarora Baptist Church, 441 Cook Road, Addison where funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Woodhull Cemetery. Memorial donations in Ron’s name are suggested for Radio Station WPEL, 251 High St. Montrose, PA 18801.
