This city boy had some trepidations the first time I was going to meet the family. Where was Hartsville and what would these country folk be like. From the moment I met "Norm" Dad he put me completely at ease and welcomed me to the family with shotgun and whiskey jug in hand. Although he did not have much whatever he did have he was always willing to share. The greatest attribute that Dad had was to treat strangers like they were family. I will take that lesson with me for the rest of my life. Every time I do I will smile and think of him. I always enjoyed his hunting and fishing stories and wished I had the chance to go on a fishing trip with him. So however we will handle our grief ; whether through God, a walk in the woods, a sunset, friends, family, or our pets I know we will see him again. Although I never got to fish with Dad some day we will cross paths again. We will grab our poles, a beer, and head down to the river.
