Although I moved away from Addison to go to college almost 49 years ago, I remember Jack coming regularly to my parents' house to collect the insurance premium payment when I was growing up. Can you even imagine an insurance agent making house calls like that any more? Seems like he had a brownish-tan suit at the time. My mother would reach up behind the telephone table in the living room to get the sturdy tan envelope with "Prudential Insurance" printed on it (Jack must have given all his customers those envelopes) and pull out the cash she had saved there for him.
She and Jack would always exchange a few kind, neighborly words. He'd say something nice to me, too, if I happened to be there when he stopped by. After all these years, I still remembered his face correctly before I saw the photograph you've provided here.
Even though it's been decades since I last saw Jack, I can still see him so well -- in the living room at 51 Front Street, visiting with Phoebe Butler, my mom. I'm so sorry to learn of his death. Karen Butler Easter

Oh Jack, how I will miss you. You were a friend always... I can not express how much I have always admired you. You were a hard worker and took such good care of your family. Even with your health issues, you planted your garden and loved your cows and enjoyed all of it. We were so alike... We played the same sports, and even though you knocked me and Elwyn Avery out of the bowling tournaments TWICE I never minded your laughing about it. Well, not too much anyhow! I played softball with you as you pitched for us (as Joanie remarked on) and you were always a good sport even when I caught your hits. You always did the best you could, and persevered through everything, and I will miss seeing you everyday, that is for sure. Rest in Peace, Jack. You sure had a life well lived.

Respect...I had so much for Jack. What a great example to teach and lead. He was my Little League Coach and I loved him. Not only did he survive life's challenges, But he thrived regardless of anything thrown at him. What a tremendous loss that will not be forgotten. He was always on the winning team...and still is. May God Bless Jack and may the family somehow find peace in all of this. In Jesus' Holy Name, Amen.

Mike,
I am so sorry to hear this. I will miss our bumping into eachother. I wish I could share the story about the little old lady stopping out front of the barn admiring the boy's donkey and Jack telling us what she had said while he was at the barn watching her unnoticed. I still chuckle and tell the story. Prayers for comfort and peace for all of you. Kim

Jack and I played in a mixed-league tournament back in the '70s, in Westfield, PA. He was pitcher, and I was catcher. Great memories of a really good guy.
Rest in Peace, My Friend.
