Lyman Richard Phillips, 71 of Painted Post NY, went to be with the Lord at 4:20 p.m. on 4/10/2020, after a five-week struggle with congestive heart failure. Lyman was married to Lee Rose Marie Griffin for 40 years until she passed away in 2018. Lyman was survived by his five children, Nicole Marie Brewer, Richard Lee Phillips, Diana Michelle Garvansites, Crystal Opal Griffin & Charles Nelson Phillips; he has 10 Grand Children and 5 sisters, Connie & Herbert (Phillips) Mack, Princelia (Phillips) Dimick, Patricia & Charles (Phillips) Wilson, Betty &Clair (Phillips) Matteson and Helen Phillips. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clara & Lyman (Ripley) Phillips, and his 4 sisters & 3 brothers as follows, Margaret Phillips, Mary LaBarr, Stella Paris, Lois Green, Charles Phillips, James Phillips and Thomas Phillips. Lyman enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1965-66. Some time after his enlistment he went to Florida State University where he obtained his Associates in Art’s and bachelor’s in Science, he then continued his education and went on to become an Ordained Minister and sometime after that he decided to chase his first love and passion in life which was Art. He started painting nativity scenes which led him into tattooing. By 1986 he entered into a competition where he was ranked number 6 out of the top 10 cover up artists in the entire United States. He continues in that career until 2008 when he became too disabled to work. There will be no funeral services at this time. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, Woodhull, NY.
