Obituary of Kathleen M. Cornell

JASPER: Kathleen M. Cornell, 84, of Cornell Rd. passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2012) surrounded by her family after an extended illness. Kathleen was born August 17, 1928 in Troupsburg to Charles and Alice (Harrington) Prutsman. On April 21, 1946 in Wellsville, she married Gerald Cornell who survives. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a daughter Diane Kaye Cornell in July of 1973. She was also predeceased by a sister Madeline (Luman) Schenck, two brothers, Donald and Durward Prutsman, and brother and sister-in-laws Franklin and Kathryn Krusen. Kathleen was a lifelong resident of the Jasper area where she was a housewife and mother she was a member of the United Church of Jasper and a member of the Jasper Order of Eastern Star. Kathleen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading, traveling and growing flowers. Her children will remember her as a kind, gentle soul who made amazing apple pie. In addition to her husband of 66 years Gerald Cornell of Jasper, Kathleen is survived by a son Barry (Sandy) Cornell of Troupsburg, three daughters: Kathy (Tim) Carnes of Leicester, Cindy Cornell and Jennifer (Bob) Thurber of Jasper. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Roberta Prutsman of Hornell, brother-in-law, Howard (Nancy) Cornell of Corey, Pa. as well as 8 grand children, 8 great grand children and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Saturday at the United Church of Jasper where a funeral service will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 3:00 PM. with the Rev. David Barnard officiating. An Order of Eastern Star service will precede the funeral at 2:45 PM at the church. Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery, Jasper, N.Y.
