Obituary of Joyce M. Davis

Joyce M. Davis, 83, of Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Houghton, NY, formerly of Woodhull, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2020 at her residence in Houghton. Joyce was born in the Town of Woodhull on June 15, 1936, the daughter of the late Ernest G. and Florence M. (Young) Baker. She attended Addison schools. On September 10, 1955, she married Neil Davis who preceded her in death on December 27, 1972. Joyce, as well as being a loving Mom and homemaker for her family, had been employed as a seamstress at the former Westfield Manufacturing in Westfield, PA and also at the Marion Rohr Co. in Hornell. She loved butterflies and anything related to butterflies. She enjoying searching for and collecting unique stones in her travels and was a lover of old country music. Foremost was her love and care shown for her children, grandchildren and sisters. Joyce is survived by her children, Darlene (Rick) Williams of Wellsville, NY, Dale (Debi) Davis of Beaver Dams, Mark Davis of Woodhull, Kevin (Pam) Davis of Woodhull and Jeffrey Davis of Woodhull, her grandchildren, Kellie Foster, Karen Williams, Cody Williams, Kimberly Davis, Melanie Davis, Allison Friends, Joseph Davis, Alicia Davis and Brandy Lilly, her great grandchildren, Dakota, Kaitlyn, Jamie, Brea, Aleah, Keaton, Zane, Gracie, Lucas, Layla, Margo and June, her sisters, Bernice VanGorden and Winetta Baker, both of Woodhull and Alvora Beck of Vista, CA and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Neil, Joyce was predeceased by her brothers, James Baker and George Baker and by her sister, Anna Hall. A private memorial service will be held at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Joyce will be laid to rest next to her husband Neil in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo, NY.
