Charles A. Szepansky, 81, of Store Hill Road, Troupsburg, NY, passed away at home on Friday, October 16, 2020 following failing health. Chuck was born in Corning, NY on January 31, 1939, the son of the late John and Barbara (Henyan) Szepansky. Raised in Corning, he was a 1957 graduate of Corning Northside High School. Following high school, Chuck attended Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia on an athletic scholarship in track and field. His college career was cut short as the result of a serious auto accident. On August 26, 1961, Chuck married the former Sandra J. Elwell in Corning. While employed as a bank loan officer, Chuck was drafted by the military and enlisted in the US Army. He served active duty for two years followed by two more years of reserve duty. Upon his discharge from the Army, Chuck began a long career as a credit manager for first St. James Hospital in Hornell and later with Ira Davenport Hospital in Bath from where he retired. Chuck loved to golf and was an avid coin collector. He was a loyal fan of Notre Dame Football. His greatest love and source of pride and satisfaction was his beloved family, who will miss him immensely. Surviving Chuck is his wife of over 59 years, Sandra Szepansky of Troupsburg, his five daughters and sons in law, Tanya and William Fierle of East Aurora, NY, Michelle and Mark Guilfoil of Alexandria, VA, Kris and Bret Benton of Addison, Holly Zemotel (Carl Christensen) of Corning and Heather and Darrell Ellsworth of Hornby, his grandchildren, Amanda (Robert) Kufel, Grace Fierle, Joseph Fierle, Logan Guilfoil, Seth Guilfoil, Jenna Benton and Julia Benton, his sister, Sandra (Dan) Schofield of Clarence, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara Szepansky and his brothers in law, William Elwell and Dana Elwell. A memorial gathering will be held at a later time at the family’s convenience.. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg.
