Obituary of Matthew Emmett Frechette
Please share a memory of Matthew Emmett to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Matthew Emmett Frechette, 37, of Hornell, New York, succumbed to a long battle with depression and went home to be with his mother in Heaven on November 19, 2020. Matthew fought his battle since the loss of his mother at a young age that he was never able to come to terms with. Matthew was born on April 3, 1983 in Norwich, Connecticut.
Matthew built a successful trucking business that he operated for almost 20 years. He had a passion for heavy haul trucking, the bigger and heavier the load, the more rewarding it was for him. He worked with many other drivers, including helping some get their start in the business. He truly enjoyed sharing his knowledge and lending a helping hand to someone who needed it.
When Matthew had free time, he really enjoyed getting on his Harley and going for a ride. It set him free from day to day stresses and brought peace into his life.
Matthew was a great father who loved his children intensely. He usually travelled from his home in New York to Connecticut every other weekend to be with his daughter, Liberty (Libby) and his son, Graham. The worse part of the weekend for him was leaving them and having to drive back home.
Matthew touched many lives and he will be greatly missed by all he called family and friend.
Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, Gail Moss Frechette; paternal grandparents, Donat and Irene Frechette; and maternal grandfather, William Moss.
Matthew is survived by his daughter Liberty, son Graham, step-daughter Emma and their mother Brandie Frechette; his father, Roger Frechette and wife Donna Hiatt; his siblings Brian, Todd, Jeannine and Daniel Frechette, and their families; his step-sister Heather Moore and family; his maternal grandmother Carol Moss; his girlfriend Tina White and her three children Aiden, Lilly and Kadence; along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
A private family service is being planned. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich, CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Please give to local causes involving the treatment and support of mental illness and suicide prevention.
