PENFIELD/CANISTEO: It is with great sadness that the family of James Marlin Richardson of Penfield, NY (formerly of Canisteo, NY) announce his passing on December 12, 2020, at the age of 77. Born in Hornell, NY, May 22, 1943, to Milton and Edith (Brutsman) Richardson. Marlin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canisteo. He graduated from Canisteo Central High School in 1961 and subsequently earned a degree in mechanics and heavy equipment operations from Williamsport Technical Institute. He was an auto mechanic prior to entering the construction industry as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and worked for several construction companies locally and throughout the state. Marlin enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and spending summers at his family’s cottage. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed restoring classic cars and attending NASCAR race events. He was an innovative tinkerer and a guru of repurposing the old. During his retirement years he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Gerald Richardson. He is survived by his three children, daughter Lorie (Marty) LoBiondo, son Jay (Katherine) Richardson, and son Michael (Darlene) Richardson, eight grandchildren; Marty, Matthew, Grace, Faith, McKayla, Andrew, Zachary and Katie, as well as his sister, Wanda Lonsberry. There will be no calling hours or service at this time, a celebration of Marlin’s life will be held in the summer of 2021, and will be announced at a later date.
