George E. Flynn, 79, of Central Ave., Elkland, passed away at home on Saturday, January 9, 2021 with his loving family at his side. Born in Ulysses, PA on March 20, 1941, George was the son of the late Leon G. and Genevieve (Tubbs) Flynn. He attended school in Elkland for most of his youth, but eventually he transferred to Cowanesque High School in Westfield from where he graduated. George and the former Sheila Aldrich were married on November 7, 1959. George was employed by Ingersoll Rand Co. and later Dresser Rand Co. in Painted Post, NY as a maintenance mechanic. He began his long career there in 1959, retiring in 2002. An avid hunter and fisherman, George loved boating and spending time with his beloved family. He and Sheila owned a lake cottage and shared many special times there with their family. George loved being on the water and being near the water. He and Sheila were members of the Osceola Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Sheila Flynn of Elkland, his daughter and son in law, Tammy & Tim Marzo of Osceola, his grandson, Travis (Rachel) Marzo of Woodhull, his great grandchildren, Chase Marzo and Quinn Marzo and several nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Reimann, Velvet Avery, JoAnn Dartt and Jean Flynn and by his brother, William Flynn. A private funeral service will be held at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, Woodhull, NY at the convenience of the family. Burial will be made in Highland Cemetery, Elkland.
