Obituary of Lenora F. Sturm

CANISTEO: Lenora F. Sturm, 83, of Stephens St. passed away Wednesday (Oct. 10, 2012) at St. James Mercy Hospital following a short illness. Lenora was born May 7, 1929 in Canisteo to Leon and Fern (Teribury) Drake. On September 7, 1983 she married Deloss W. Sturm who survives and resides in Canisteo. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Spangenburg, two brothers, Bernard and Leo Drake, and three sisters, Margaret Vosburg, Berneth Higgins and Anna Mae Willis. Lenora had worked for a short period of time at the former Westinghouse Co. in Bath. She was a waitress at Billy Schu's Restaurant in Hornell before being employed as a machine operator for Sterns and Sterns Textile Mfg. in Hornell for 25 years. Lenora enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and also was an avid reader. In addition to her husband Deloss Sturm of Canisteo, Lenora is survived by four sons: William (Terry) O'Dell, Steve O'Dell, Ronald (Carol) O'Dell and Donald (Donna) O'Dell all of Canisteo and son-in-law, Herbert Spangenburg of Hornell. She is also survived by several grand children, great, grand children, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM Friday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 7:00 PM with the Rev. Todd Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Canisteo Ambulance Fund, c/o Sandy Pierce, 35 Main St. Canisteo, N.Y. 14823.
