Obituary of Robert J. Dietrich

CANISTEO/MESA, AZ: Robert J. "Bob" Dietrich, 47, formerly of Canisteo passed away April 19, 2012 in Mesa, AZ following a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born December 10, 1964 in Norfolk, VA to John and Sally (McKenney) Dietrich. He was predeceased by his father John Dietrich, Sr. step-father Ike Stuckey and sister-in-law Sherri Dietrich. He was a graduate of Canisteo Central School class of 1983, where he lettered in baseball, football and basketball and was a member of the Section V Class B Baseball Champions of 1982 and 83. Bob served his country for 9 years in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Arizona in 1996 where he was employed with Performance Contracting, Inc. Though living in Arizona he remained devoted to the NY Yankees and Buffalo Bills. Survivors include his mother Sally Stuckey of Canisteo, step-mother Harriet Dietrich of Skaneateles, his brothers: John Dietrich, Jr. of Alfred, Bill (Sheryl) Dietrich of Cape Coral, FL., Tom Dietrich of Phoenix, AZ. and Don Dietrich of Canisteo. He is also survived by three nieces, Amanda (Ryan) Welch, Danee Jo and Catherine Dietrich, a nephew Joey and a girlfriend Jennifer Voss-Dewey of Canisteo. The family would like to invite family and friends to a memorial service Saturday at 11:00 AM at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow at Maple City Bowl in Hornell. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bob's name be made to the donors' choice. Service: Saturday, October 20, 2012 11:00 AM H.P.
