CANISTEO: Carol T. Morse, 94, of Greenwood St. passed away Saturday morning, April 10, 2021, at St. James Mercy Hospital with the comfort, care and love of her family around her.
Carol was born January 29, 1927 in Hornell to the late Charles T. and Loretta (Matthews) Wheeler. On September 28, 1946 in Canaseraga, she married Lyle E. Morse who predeceased her in February of 2012.
Carol was a life-long resident of the Canisteo Valley. A devoted homemaker, wife and mother, she enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends along with making ceramic items, painting and drawing. Outside her home she was a former member of the Canisteo American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by her seven children: Cheryl (Jerry) Chaffee of Belle Haven, Thomas (Karen) Morse of Fairport, Nancy Racalto of Canisteo, Mary (Stephen) Schaumberg of Canisteo, Timothy (Mary) Morse of Canisteo, Ann (Andy) Solomons of Northport, FL and Bridget (David) Merritt of Horseheads.
11 wonderful grandchildren: Daniel Racalto, Sarah Chaffee, Shane Schaumberg, Amanda Morse-Temple, Catherine Racalto-Herra, Brianne Schaumberg, Paul Chaffee, Steven Morse, Erica Morse, Jacob Fronk and Danielle Alred and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother Theodore Charles Wheeler, a sister, Patricia Shermer and son-in-law Daniel Racalto.
There will be no public calling hours or service. A private family visitation and service will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
