Obituary of Kathleen "Kathy" Tompkins

Kathleen B. “Kathy” Tompkins, 82, of Tompkins Hollow Road, Knoxville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at UPMC Wellsboro.
Born in Hornell, NY on September 22, 1938, Kathy was the daughter of the late Alfred H. and Edith Mae Rude Burdick. She was a 1958 graduate of Troupsburg Central School.
She and Leonard “Bill” Tompkins were married on August 4, 1989 at the Austinburg Baptist Church.
Kathy was a school bus driver for nearly 40 years, beginning with the Troupsburg School District and later with the Jasper-Troupsburg Central School District from where she retired. She had also been employed at Electri-Cord in Westfield as well as the Rose Restaurant in Troupsburg and the Longhorn Restaurant in Westfield.
Kathy enjoyed sewing and crocheting and loved to bake. She liked to make cookies for Bill which he in turn liked to eat. Bill felt it was a win-win. She was a charter member of the Troupsburg Ambulance Corp.
Surviving is her husband, Leonard “Bill” Tompkins of Knoxville, her daughters, Tina (Tony) Wanat of Arnot, PA, Tammy Johnson of Painted Post and Tonya Cornish (Kenny LeCrone) of Troupsburg, her step children, William (Tonya) Tompkins of Troupsburg and Peggy (Dave) Brown of Knoxville, her daughter in law, Cheryl Cornish of Harrison Valley, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, her siblings, Claton (Marge) Burdick of Troupsburg, Donald (Kyle) Burdick of Austinburg and Sharon (Jim) Cornish of Troupsburg along with many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Cornish on December 14, 2019, her son in law, Dana Johnson, her brothers, Milton Burdick, Alfred Burdick Jr. and Elwyn Burdick, her sisters, Arlene Abbott, Dorris Atwell and Ida Mae Storms.
Following Kathy’s wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg.
Memorial donations in Kathy’s name are suggested to the Troupsburg Ambulance Corp.
Arrangements are in the care of the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY.
