Obituary of Jacob Edmond Davis

Jacob Edmond Davis, 14, of 4239 Upper Swale Road, Cameron, NY, died suddenly on Friday evening, October 19, 2012 in the Town of Addison. Jake was born in Hornell on Apr. 30, 1998, the son of Robert and Amy Peoples Davis. He was a 9th grade student at Jasper-Troupsburg Central School. He was very active in athletics in school, playing baseball, soccer and basketball. He may have been a small package but he played sports with the heart of a giant. "Jake the Snake", as his pals called him, loved hanging out with his many friends and classmates and was truly loved by all in school. He loved to hunt with his family and friends and enjoyed supporting his Dad in his racing at Woodhull Raceway. Jake was a NASCAR fan with Carl Edwards being his favorite driver. Jake is survived by his parents, Amy & Bobby Davis of Cameron, his sister, Kierstin Davis (Chris Lafler) of Canisteo, his brother, Kristopher Davis of Cameron, his nephew, whom Jake adored, Chase Lafler of Canisteo, his maternal grandparents, Kenny & Millie Peoples of Addison, his paternal grandparents, Barb & Donald Davis of Cameron, his paternal great grandmother, Ruby Bradley of Florida, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and countless friends and school mates, including close buddies, Tucker Simons, Brandon McNalley and Deven Brutsman. Jake was predeceased by his uncle, Lewis Martin and cousin, Darwin Davis. The family will receive friends at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 7-9 PM and again on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted there on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Rev. Adrian Essigmann will officiate. Burial will follow in Martin Farms Cemetery, Town of Woodhull. Memorials in Jake's name may be made to the Jasper-Troupsburg Sports Booster Club.
