HOWARD: Alan G. Burley, 67, of Mill Rd. passed away Friday afternoon, May 28, 2021 at Noyes Hospital in Dansville following a short illness. Alan was born May 5, 1954 in Wayland to the late Leon and Mildred (Bassett) Burley. On June 16, 1979 in the town of Fremont he married the former Lorraine E. Severance who survives and resides in Howard. Alan had worked at the Bath Country Club prior to falling ill and had also worked at Wilkins RV in Bath, Maple City Dodge in Hornell, Smokey’s Restaurant in Kanona and Liberty St. Restaurant 209 in Bath. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and in his later years enjoyed fishing the most. Anything outside made him feel good, even mowing the lawn. Crossword puzzles and word searches always kept him busy, but he very much like the company of family and friends and the time spent just talking and reminiscing. Alan had a pleasant smile and a welcome handshake. In addition to his wife Lorraine, Alan is survived by four brothers, Francis (Rose) Burley of Burns, Dale (Marcia) Burley of Canisteo, Neal (Robin) Burley of Fremont and Calvin (Nellie Jo) Burley of Norfolk, VA. one sister Arlene Alexander of Florida, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hours at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in the Howard Cemetery, Howard, NY. Memorial contributions in Alan’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
