Obituary of Margaret E. Potter

Margaret E. Potter, 95, died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Versailles, Kentucky on Friday, June 18, 2021. Margaret had been a resident of Troupsburg.
She was born on November 20, 1925 in Hornell, New York to the late George and Pearl Stephens Cochrane. She was a graduate of Hornell High School and attended Business School and she later became the tax collector for Troupsburg, New York. Margaret married Gilbert E. Potter on February 6, 1955. Gilbert preceded her in death on February 10, 2011.
Margaret enjoyed spending time painting, reading, and crocheting. She was active with the Troupsburg United Methodist Church as well as the Austinburg United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jon Potter, and granddaughter, Ashley Potter.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her family, daughters, Marie Vitali (Gary), Versailles, Kentucky, Kathleen Potter, Henrietta, New York and Lori Shick (Jim), Woodstock, Georgia, daughter in law, Kim Looney, Fairfax, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Michelle Hill (Jaime), Concord, North Carolina, John Vitali (Allison), Owensboro, Kentucky, Jessica Cummings (George), Cartersville, Georgia, Alyssa Vitali, Versailles, Kentucky, Ethan Shick, Duluth, Georgia, Hayden Shick, Woodstock, Georgia, Jared Shick, Atlanta, Georgia, great grandchildren, Margaret Vitali, Luca Vitali, Rosalie Vitali. Niccolo Vitali, Braxton Cummings, Griffin Cummings, Emery Vitali, and special caregiver, April Jones.
Family would like to thank Hospice Care of the Bluegrass for their wonderful care and compassion that they showed Margaret.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the H.P. Smith and Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main Street, Woodhull, New York. Margaret’s great nephew, Erick Potter will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:00 pm.
