GREENWOOD: James J. “Jim” McCormick, Sr. of Ste. Rte. 248 passed away peacefully Friday morning, July 2, 2021 at his home after a brief illness. Jim was born February 22, 1952 in Hornell to the late Theodore “Joe” and Helen (Wright) McCormick. On July 6, 1991 in Greenwood, he married the former Bonnie Schultz who survives and resides in Greenwood. A life-long resident of Greenwood, Jim had worked at Air Preheater in Wellsville for 30 years. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. serving our country proudly during the Vietnam War from 1970-71. Jim was an avid and passionate outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and when he wasn’t outdoors, he enjoyed watching the Outdoor Channel. He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Greenwood, one son James J. McCormick, Jr. of Hudson Falls, his siblings, Theresa McCormick of Detroit, MI, Helen (Ken) Burns of Niagara Falls, John McCormick of Rexville, Michael McCormick of Leavenworth, KS and Annette (John) Jacobs of Greenwood. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friend, and his loyal canine companion German Shepherd---Maverick. Per Jim’s request there will be no calling hours. A celebration and remembrance of life has been scheduled for Saturday, August 21st at 1:00 pm at the Greenwood Fire Dept. Memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to either, Care First, 3805 Meads Creek Rd. Painted Post, N.Y. 14870 or to the Argyle Emergency Squad, 15 Sheridan St., Argyle, N.Y. 12809.
