Obituary of Christine M. Rhone

FREMONT: Christine M. Rhone, 82, of Cream Hill Rd. went to her heavenly home on Friday, September 3, 2021 at her home surrounded by the love, comfort and care of her family.
Christine was born December 7, 1938 in Danbury, CT. to the late Robert and Grace (Barnum) Christopher. She was a graduate of Bethel High School class of 1956. On July 6, 1957 in Danbury, CT she married John Rhone who predeceased her on April 7, 2010. She was also predeceased by an infant son William A. Rhone in 1960, a sister Barbara Ann Christopher and an infant brother Robert Christopher.
Christine was secretary to the principal at Arkport Central School for many years until her retirement in 1993. She was a very loyal and dedicated member of the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church. Her interests included playing the piano and organ at church, volunteering at several local nursing homes playing the piano and participating in ministries with Pastor Daniel Pickering and his wife Joyce. She also enjoyed attending musicals and sporting events her grandchildren were involved with.
Christine is survived by two sons James (Lynn) Rhone of Penn Yan and Jeffrey (Patti) Rhone of Macedon, and a daughter Suzanne (James) Watson of Phoenix, N.Y. 10 grandchildren: Kyle Rhone, Matthew (Samantha) Rhone, Abigail (Timothy) Eckert, Emily and Jessica Rhone, Patrick and Michael Redmond, Andrew and Taylor Rodbourn and Lindsey (Shane) Crandall, one great granddaughter Sophia Eckert.
Christine is also survived by a sister, Mary (Dave) Snell of Oxford, ME, and a brother Ronald (Dorothy) Christopher of Carmel and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge Christine’s loving companion and friend, Gilbert Yates of Arkport, who, with his children and grandchildren, shared their time and love with Christine for several years.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday, October 8th at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo and from 4-5 pm Saturday, October 9th, at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church, 6034 Cty. Rte. 69 Canisteo, where a celebration of life will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 5:00 pm with Pastor Daniel Pickering officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fremont Cemetery, Stephens Mills.
Memorial contributions in Christine’s name may be made to either the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church, 6034 Cty. Rte. 69 Canisteo, N.Y. 14823, the Fremont Vol. Fire Dept. P.O. Box 462, Arkport, N.Y. 14807 or to Care First, 3805 Meads Creek rd. Painted Post, N.Y. 14870.
